Roman mile stone
Geroldplatz - Rabland (Rablá)
In 1552, a Roman mile stone was found near the 'Supphof' (today called 'Hanswirt'). The strong waters of the Ziel stream excavated it one day. This discovery was not only a normal Roman mile stone, but a precious honourable monument ot an Emperor. Monuments of this type along the road are very rare and were seemingly only placed at very important border crossing points. This valuable road monument near Rablà con be admired at the town museum of Bozen (Bolzano). From 1977, a replica exists at the entrance to the historic pub 'Gasthof Hanswirt' in Rabland.
