Cycling & mountain biketours
Smooth valley roads and winding mountain passes
The new panorama railway wagons of the Venosta railway lead from Merano through the Val Venosta to the quite distant village of Malles (about 60 km). There you can rent a bicycle at the station and cycle down the Val Adige cycle path (Etschtal-Radweg) that leads you back to Merano and is gently down hill all the way. If you become tired before arriving at Merano, just return the bicycle to another railway station along the way and take the train back in comfort.
Mountainbike tour Töll - Quadrat - Vigiljoch - Aschbach - Töll
(Tel - Quadrat - Monte S. Vigilio - Rio Lagundo - Tel)
After crossing the Etsch bridge in Töll/Tel, you need to take a left turn and ride along the quite steep asphalted road to the Niederhof farmhouse (811 meters). From here, you turn in the direction of Gasthaus Brünnl until you come to Mahlbach (1,219 meters).A non-asphalted road leads you in the direction of Aschbach and to the Rasner Kreuz (1,416 meters). When you come to the crossroads, turn left towards the Vigiljoch. After several double bends and a flat piece of road, you come to the Vigiljochstrasse and, finally, to the Gasthof Seespitz and a beautiful lake. The road leads you on to Gasthof Jocher. Just below Gasthof Jocher, you need to turn right onto a forest road, which will lead you to Aschbach. You will return to your starting point in Töll if you follow the normal forest road.
